SI 2023/568.  The Merchant Shipping (Fire Protection) Regulations 2023.  Comes into force 15th June. These Regulations implement amendments to Chapter II-2 of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 to fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction, and also make provision in respect of ships to which the Convention does not apply. The Regulations revoke and replace the Merchant Shipping (Fire Protection: Large Ships) Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/1012) and the Merchant Shipping (Fire Protection) Regulations 2003 (SI 2003/2950).

RI 2023/255. Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) (Amendment) Regulations 2023. Published on 24th May. These Regulations amend Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (RI 2007/299).  The amendment introduces the concept of a “relevant code of practice”. This will facilitate the introduction of other codes of practice to guide employers in complying with other sections of the General Application Regulations.

EU 2023/988. Regulation (EU) 2023/988 of The European Parliament and of The Council on General Product Safety. Comes into force 13th December 2024.   The objective of this Regulation is to improve the functioning of the internal market while providing for a high level of consumer protection. This Regulation lays down essential rules on the safety of consumer products placed or made available on the market.

EU 2023/1132. Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1132.  Comes into force 1st December. Amends Annex XVII  to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 as regards carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive toxicant substances subject to restrictions.
