SR 2020/304. The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases and Ozone-Depleting Substances (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020.  Comes into force immediately before IP completion day. These Regulations make minor amendments SR 2011/239 The Controls on Ozone-Depleting Substances Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011 – designation of the Competent Authority and SR 2015/281 The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 – references to the European Commission.

SI 2020/1484.  The Personal Protective Equipment (Temporary Arrangements) (Coronavirus) (England) Regulations 2020. Comes into force on IP completion day.  These Regulations permit PPE to be placed on the market before conformity assessment has been completed and any conformity marking has been affixed and permit PPE to be procured without undergoing conformity assessment procedures where it is to made available to healthcare and other frontline workers.

SI 2020/1497. The Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration, Production, Unloading and Storage (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2020. Comes into force 31st December. These Regulations implement Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. Regulation 4 states that such projects cannot commence without the consent of the Oil and Gas Authority.  Regulation 5 sets out when a project must be subject to an environmental impact assessment before a decision can be made by the Secretary of State on whether to agree to the grant of consent for the project.

Republic of Ireland legislation. RI 2020/589.   Merchant Shipping (Navigation and Tracking) (Heading Systems and Testing of Steering Rear) Rule.  Published 8th December.  These Rules implement Chapter V of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 relating to the use of heading and track control systems and the operation and testing of steering gear.  The Rules revoke RI 1983/317 the Merchant Shipping (Automatic Pilot and Testing of Steering Gear) 1983.
