EU 2021/770.  Council Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2021/770.  Published 30th April.  This Regulation lays down rules for calculating the “own resource” based on plastic packaging waste that is not recycled as referred to in Article 2(1) of Decision (EU, Euratom) 2020 on making that own resource available to the Commission, on the measures to meet cash requirements, and on specific effects on the calculation of the applicable uniform call rate of the own resource based on gross national income.

RI 2021/231.   Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Chemical Agents) (Amendment) Regulations 2021. Published 14th May.  These Regulations amend the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Chemical Agents) Regulations 2001 (RI 2001/619)  to give further effect to various EU Council Directives.

SI 2021/598.  The Single Use Carrier Bags Charges (England) (Amendment) Order 2021.  Comes into force 21st May.   This order amends ASI 2015/776 The Single Use Carrier Bags Charges (England) Order 2015. Amendments include omitting the expiry date of 5th October 2022, the substitution of a new definition of “seller” and increases the minimum charge for each single use carrier bag (SUCB) supplied in a reporting year from 5 pence to 10 pence.

SI 2021/592. The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship) (Bilge Alarm) Regulations 2021.  Comes into force 30th June. These Regulations implement a recommendation by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch Report following the flooding and foundering of the Abigail.  They require bilge water level detectors to be installed in any engine room and in any other space in which bilge water is likely to accumulate.
