The Landfill Tax (Amendment) Regulations 2017.  Comes into force 1st April. These Regulations amend regulation 31(3) of the Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 (SI.996/1527).  They increase the maximum amount of credit which a registered person may claim against its landfill tax liability

The Oil and Gas Authority (Levy) Regulations 2017. Comes into force 1st April.  These Regulations make provision for imposing a levy on the holders of petroleum licences for the period 1st  April 2017 to 31st  March 2018 to meet costs incurred by the Oil and Gas Authority.

A review of 2016’s newsletters shows that we noted forty-one (106 in 2015) new pieces of relevant UK legislation (plus three from the EU) and ninety amending pieces (69 in 2015) of UK legislation, some of which amended more than one piece of primary legislation (plus seventeen from the EU).   We also reported on fifty-one consultations.

Commission Directive (EU) 2017/164.  A Directive which establishes a fourth list of indicative occupational exposure limit values pursuant to Council Directive 98/24/EC, and amending Commission Directives 91/322/EEC, 2000/39/EC and 2009/161/EU.  Comes into force 21st February.
