SI 2022/159. The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme and Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2022. Coming into force 15th March. These Regulations amend the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme Regulations 2014 (SI 2014/928) and the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme Regulations 2018 (SI 2018/611).

SI 2022/144 The Pesticides (Revocation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2022. Comes into force 4th April. These Regulations revoke thirty-one retained EU Regulations (listed in the schedule) relating to pesticides and, in particular, legislation relating to plant protection products and maximum residue levels.

Republic of Ireland RI 2022/51

RI 2022/51. Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) (Amendment) Regulations 2022. Comes into force 1st January 2023. Amends Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009 (RI 2009/286). Regulation 6 now states that the burning of waste in compliance with Regulation 5(1) (a) and 5(1) (b) shall cease on 1 January 2023.

Gas company fined five million pounds

A gas distribution company was fined £5 Million and ordered to pay costs of £91,487. for safety breaches after a fire and gas explosion at residential premises resulted in the death of the homeowner. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found that the source of the gas escape was a fractured six-inch cast iron main running under the road to the front of the property. The investigation found that the main did not appear on the company’s network drawings.
