SI 2023/94. The Environmental Targets (Marine Protected Areas) Regulations 2023. Comes into force 31st January. These Regulations set a long-term target that before the end of 31st December 2042 more than 70% of protected features within relevant marine protected areas should be in “favourable condition”.

SI 2023/93. The Environmental Targets (Water) (England) Regulations 2023. Comes into force 31st January. These Regulations set long-term targets for reduction in nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment  entering fresh and coastal waters from agricultural land, reduction is nitrogen entering fresh waters from sewerage systems, reduction of the length of waters polluted by arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, nickel and zinc from abandoned metal mines and reduction of the amount of potable water supplied by water undertakers.

SI 2023/92.  The Environmental Targets (Residual Waste) (England) Regulations 2023.  Comes into force 31st January. These Regulations set a long-term target for reducing residual waste (defined as any waste  not listed on the schedule) to less than  287 kilograms per person by 31st December 2042.
