DEFRA review of the Local Air Quality Management Policy Guidance

DEFRA is consulting on a review of the Local Air Quality Management Policy Guidance. Consultation closes 6th June. https://consult.defra.gov.uk/air-quality-and-industrial-emissions/consultation-on-the-review-of-the-local-air-qualit/.  The guidance is being revised to reflect the legislative changes introduced through the Environment Act 2021 and clarify roles and responsibilities within local government.

EU 2022/477

EU 2022/477. Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/477 amending Annexes VI to X to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Comes into force 14 October 2022. Annex VI sets out information requirements. Annexes VII to X set out standard information requirements for substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 tonne or more, 10 tonnes or more, 100 tonnes or more and 1 000 tonnes or more.

Consultation on changes to waste documentation

DEFRA is consulting on the reform of waste packaging notes. Consultation closes 21st May.  https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/packaging-waste-recycling-notes-reform  The reforms cover the packaging waste recycling note (PRN) and packaging waste export recycling note (PERN) system. This system will be established by the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations for packaging waste.

Simplifi March 2022 newsletter

In our March 2022 newsletter, we report on a new piece of legislation reducing VAT on energy saving material.  We also report on amendments to legislation covering waste, occupational diseases and injuries, planning, licencing of goods vehicles, planning and GMOs. There are consultations on security of telecoms, environmental targets, offshore renewables and changes to the UK ETS.  There are relevant items of news from the HSE and the Environment Agency.

Due to a technical problem we were unable to email the February newsletter to all our subscribers, although it was available to read on our website.  We have therefore appended the February newsletter to the March one
