Consultation on development of UK ETS.

The UK ETS Authority is consulting on the development of the UK Emissions Trading Scheme. Consultation closes on 17th June. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/developing-the-uk-emissions-trading-scheme-uk-ets.  Aspects included in the consultation are:

the role of a Free Allocation policy as a carbon leakage mitigation tool bringing in unallocated allowances and/or the flexible shares to the market. the potential drivers of evolving market conditions in the UK ETS and objectives for market stability policy a review of UK ETS aviation policy. changes to the rules for sectors currently covered by the UK ETS to ensure more greenhouse gas emissions are covered by the scheme. Expansion of the scope of the UK ETS to the domestic maritime sector, waste incineration and energy from waste.

Consultation on off shore licencing

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy is consulting on a draft plan/programme covering future offshore renewables leasing, licensing for oil and gas, hydrocarbon and carbon dioxide gas storage, and offshore hydrogen production. Consultation on environmental targets

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs is consulting on environmental targets to be set to support The Environment Act 2021 Consultation closes 11th May.
