Maritime and Coastguard Agency consultation

Maritime and Coastguard Agency is consulting on the draft Marine Guidance Note MGN 681 (M) “Fire safety and storage of small electric powered craft on yachts”.  Consultation closes 9th January 2023. Whilst electric craft do not necessarily represent a greater fire risk than petrol craft, there are considerable differences in best practice for storage, fire detection and fire suppression of such craft, which should be considered when they are stored onboard.  https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-document-for-draft-mgn-681

Consultation on building safety levy

Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is consulting on the design and implementation of the Building Safety Levy. Consultation closes 7th February 2023. Consultation on amendments to Contracts for Difference

Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy is consulting on potential amendments to future rounds of the Contracts for Difference (CfD)scheme.  Consultation closes 7th February 2023. These amendments include a proposal to make electricity supplied by private wire to offshore oil and gas facilities ineligible for CfD payments. The consultation also covers questions about:;

whether the definition of floating offshore wind should be amended to reflect the evolving nature of this new and emerging technology If offshore wind farms connected to a multi-purpose interconnector should be eligible to apply for a CfD and how this could be enabled how phasing policy should be retained for fixed-bottom offshore wind projects whether the current CfD appeals process remains appropriate in line with annual auctions the CfD is an appropriate mechanism to support repowered projects and questions around how this could be facilitated
