Consultation on WEEE reuse and recycling

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs is consulting on reforms to increase levels of WEEE reuse and recycling.  Consultation published on 28^th December ‘ 23 and closes on 7^th March.  https://consult.defra.gov.uk/product-regulation-and-producer-responsibility/consultation-on-reforming-the-producer-responsibil/. This consultation document sets out proposals for reforms relating to the provision of collection infrastructure for household WEEE financed by producers of electrical and electronic equipment.  It sets out proposals for reforms to the take-back obligations that currently apply to distributors. Finally, it sets our proposals to place new obligations on online marketplaces and on ensuring producers of vapes properly finance recycling costs when they become waste.
