A 2026 c.9. The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Act. Published on 5th March. The Act places an obligation on aviation fuel suppliers to ensure a proportion of their fuel supplied is SAF. This starts at 2% in 2025 and reaches 10% by 2030 and 22% by 2040. The Act also introduces legislative measures to support sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in the UK. It empowers the Secretary of State to instigate a process with SAF producers to guarantee a price for the sale of eligible SAF over a period. It also enables the Secretary of State to make regulations to impose a levy on suppliers of aviation fuel in the UK to fund the revenue required for the guarantee.
