Simplifi January 2026 newsletter

In our newsletter for January 2026, we present two new items of UK legislation.  These are The Employment Rights Act and The Building Safety Regulator Regulations.  During the month two amendments were published to The Online Safety and The Producer Responsibility Regulations and four commencements.  For the Republic of Ireland we note three amendments to planning regulations and a new regulation covering energy efficiency. For the EU there is a new regulation establishing a European Maritime Safety Agency and an amendment to legislation covering cosmetic products.

We list consultations on new standard rules permit for waste motor vehicles, transition to net zero emissions for HGVs, charges for regulation of Radioactive Substances Regulation sites, a new Marine Guidance Note (MGN) on towing offshore floating structures and emissions from burning solid fuel. In the news was an item from HSE concerning process isolation failures in the offshore industry.  Prosecutions of note are for exposure to toxic gas and metal working fluids.
