SI 2023/35. The Merchant Shipping (Watercraft) Order 2023. Comes into force 31st March. This order confers certain provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act and of the Harbours Act 1964, as they apply to ships to apply to watercraft. Watercraft, with certain exemptions means any type of craft which is mechanically powered, used on water and carries one or more persons. The order covers the registration and safe use of such craft and the relevant duties of harbour authorities.
