SI 2020/1497. The Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration, Production, Unloading and Storage (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2020. Comes into force 31^st December. These Regulations implement Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment. Regulation 4 states that such projects cannot commence without the consent of the Oil and Gas Authority.  Regulation 5 sets out when a project must be subject to an environmental impact assessment before a decision can be made by the Secretary of State on whether to agree to the grant of consent for the project.
