The Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2017. Comes into force 16^th May. These regulations revoke and replace the Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000/1927).

These Regulations implement Directive 2011/92/EU onthe assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU. These Regulations also make other changes to the existing regime for EIAs which do not arise from Directive 2014/52/EU.

These regulations cover applications for new consents for offshore generating stations under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 (c.29) and variations to such consents. They also cover consents for overhead electric lines under section 37 of that Act
