7th December 2022Republic of Ireland – extension of producer responsibility legislation
In response to EU Directives the Republic of Ireland has published legislation to extend producer responsibility. This covers:
- Tobacco Filters Containing Plastic – RI 2022/609
- Wet wipes (pre-wetted personal care and domestic wipes) – RI 2022/610
- Balloons (except balloons for industrial for industrial or other professional uses and applications that are not distributed to consumers) – RI 2022/611
- Fishing gear containing plastic – RI 2022/612.
RI 2022/609 comes into force on 5th January 2023. The other three Statutory Instruments come into force on 31st December 2024.
