5th June 2025North Yorkshire construction company fined £100,000
A North Yorkshire construction company has been fined £100,000 after a worker fell through the roof of a sheep barn. He stepped onto a fragile roof light which immediately broke under his weight. He fell from a height of around six metres and suffered significant life changing injuries. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found the company had failed to implement basic working at height control measures. The safety netting which was in place did not cover the full work area and was installed by persons without the sufficient skills to rig it.
