March 2026 newsletter

In our newsletter for March 2026 we list a new Act of Parliament on sustainable aviation fuel and six new UK Regulations covering fees for the Oil and Gas Authority, merchant shipping, disputes in digital markets, on line safety, planning and eco-design for tumble dryers.  There are amendments to legislation on health and safety at work, carbon capture, REACH, greenhouse gas emission trading (two), planning, the climate change levy and digital marketing.

For Scotland there is new legislation on waste and an amendment for off shore wind. For the Republic of Ireland there is legislation on waste water discharges and explosives precursors. For the EU there is legislation on detergents and surfactants.

During the month consultations were raised on appeals under the On-Line Safety Act, amendments to implement Clean Industry Bonus reforms, cross-boundary carbon capture and storage (CCS) pipelines, development rights for wind turbines, amendments to the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation 2026 and new UK Best Available Techniques for reducing emissions from certain industrial sectors.

In the news was a press release from HSE about hand arm vibration syndrome.  There was a prosecution of note following a fatality when a cherry picker collided with an 11,000-volt overhead powerline.
