SI 2022/1169. The Merchant Shipping (Nuclear Ships) Regulations 2022.  Comes into force 8th December. These Regulations implement the requirements of Chapter VIII in the Annex to the Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 which contains the safety requirements for merchant nuclear powered ships. These Regulations apply to all United Kingdom commercially operated nuclear ships and non-UK commercially operated nuclear ships in UK waters, including ships from States which are not parties to the Convention

SI 2022/1173. The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2022.  Comes into force 1st January 2023. The main changes made to SI 2020/1265 The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Order 2020 are as follows. Where necessary for free allocation for installations, allowances may be created from the flexible share in addition to the annual cap.  New values for the global warming potentials of certain greenhouse gases covered by the UK ETS are adopted for the 2023 and subsequent scheme. From 1 July 2024, verifiers of emission reports must be accredited to a new standard. New applicants for accreditation as verifiers must satisfy the new standard immediately, but verification opinions of verifiers accredited to either the old or the new standard may be accepted until 30 June 2024.

EU 2022/2246

EU 2022/2246. Commission Regulation concerning chronic wasting disease in live cervids.  Regulation published 15th November 2022. This regulation prohibits the movement of live cervids from Norway into the European Union and the movement of live cervids from designated areas in Sweden and Finland. For practical purposes the prohibition only applies to live cervids moved in conjunction with human activity, but not to movements of wild cervids without any human intervention.
