SI 2022/ 1291. The Biocidal Products (Health and Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 2022. Comes into force 31st December. These Regulations amend retained EU law relating to the applications for authorisation of biocidal products. In particular, they impose new deadlines within which certain actions must be taken by the competent authority in relation to an application for the authorisation of a biocidal product. The legislation in question is Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 and Regulation (EU) No 414/2013.

SI 2022/1289. The Air Navigation (Dangerous Goods) (Amendment) Regulations 2022. Comes into force on 1st January 2023. Amends the definition of “Technical Instructions”.

Republic of Ireland – extension of producer responsibility legislation

In response to EU Directives the Republic of Ireland has published legislation to extend producer responsibility. This covers:

Tobacco Filters Containing Plastic – RI 2022/609 Wet wipes (pre-wetted personal care and domestic wipes) – RI 2022/610 Balloons (except balloons for industrial for industrial or other professional uses and applications that are not distributed to consumers) – RI 2022/611 Fishing gear containing plastic – RI 2022/612.

RI 2022/609 comes into force on 5th January 2023. The other three Statutory Instruments come into force on 31st December 2024.
