A Cornish farmer was fined £4,000 with £17,500 costs and ordered to pay £72,200 in a Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation. He was found guilty of dumping and burning construction waste in a disused quarry and destroying the habitat, including a badger set, which had developed there. The farmer will also be required to pay approximately £250,000 to HMRC for landfill tax costs he should have paid earlier for the waste.
