Consultation to ease regulatory requirements for cross-boundary carbon capture

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is consulting on plans to making regulatory requirements for cross-boundary carbon capture and storage (CCS) pipelines less complex, burdensome and costly. Consultation published on 12th March and closes on 4th June. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/uk-emissions-trading-scheme-regulating-cross-boundary-ccs-pipelines The options aim to reduce the number of UK ETS permits a CCS pipeline crossing into multiple jurisdictions will require, which could simplify the monitoring and enforcement requirements for both operators and regulators.
