10th December 2025Consultation on extension of CE marking for ecodesign
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is consulting on extending the CE marking recognition for Ecodesign regulations. Consultation posted on 9th December and closes on 20th January 2026. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/extended-ce-marking-recognition-for-ecodesign-regulations This consultation proposes to amend the Ecodesign for Energy Related Products Regulations (ESPR) 2010 (SI 2010/2617) to extend the CE marking recognition mechanism, so that it applies to new measures made under ESPR, in the same way as measures made currently under the Ecodesign Directive. ESPR will replace the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) with the first EU ecodesign regulations made under ESPR expected to come into force from mid-2027.
