The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is consulting on amendments to submission and approval of plans in building control applications for new dwellings and buildings to which the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (SI 2005/1541) applies. Consultation published on 7th April and closes on 11th June. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/plan-approval-requirements-for-new-builds-and-fire-safety-order-buildings The proposals relate to the introduction of stronger building control procedural requirements for new homes and in some instances work to existing dwellings. These changes will also address some of the current differences between the public and private sector building control routes.
