Chemical company fined £120,000

A Cumbrian specialty chemical producer has been fined £120,000 and ordered to pay £5,155 costs following an incident where a ladder being used for the inspection of a steam leak at height failed and the employee standing on it fell to the ground. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found the company had failed to ensure that work at height was properly planned and managed.
