DEFRA is consulting on the drafting of secondary legislation, supporting the new Environment Act, to prevent the use of products from illegal deforestation in UK supply chains. DEFRA announced on December 6th that the government will consult on extending the deadlines for providing the full UK REACH registration data. In addition, the government will engage with industry and other stakeholders to explore whether there are opportunities to reduce the need for industry to replicate existing EU REACH data by placing a greater emphasis on understanding how chemicals are used in in the UK. The consultation will take place in 2022 and more details will follow after discussions with stakeholders.
