Cambridgeshire food firm fined £800,000

A Cambridgeshire based frozen food manufacturer has been fined £800,000 and ordered to pay £12,831 costs after an employee became entangled in the machinery and his arm was almost severed whilst attempting to check the condition of the head roller on a bypass conveyor. In an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) into the incident, it was found that the conveyor did not have the correct guards fitted.
